Candidates looking for new opportunities will definitely be able to build a progressive career in Malaysia.  For a Malaysia career, aspirants stand to benefit from actively developing the skills that are in demand and staying important in the employment market.

Why foreign nationals prefer to have a career in Malaysia

Though the country is slightly slow to adopt new and advanced technologies, yet, it is trying its level best to keep pace with global trends. Hence, we do see many expats coming and settling down in Malaysia to build a career here.

Some reasons of expats preferring to have a career in Malaysia are as follows:

  • Unlike other Asian countries, language is not a problem here. People in this country are proficient in English. They speak English. This helps expats to make meaningful conversations and friendships with the locals here and expanding their network.
  • Malaysia is a complete multicultural country where you will find people of all regions and religions across the globe settling down here. In fact, this is one place where you can see a temple, church, mosque, and also Chinese temples situated close to each other.
  • Malaysia is a modern country. Expats find many things similar to Europe. In some aspects, the country is more modern than some European countries. Malaysia is also one of the most developed countries in South East Asia.
  • Of course, for anyone to settle down with a Malaysia career, money needs to be considered. Let's face the truth. Malaysia career pays quite a lot. You can very well say that Malaysia is soon going to be the "next Europe" in some years. Expats won’t feel like shifting to a different place after working and staying in this country.
  • When you come to this place as an expat to settle and have a career here, you will definitely get the perfect arrangement to enjoy the place to the fullest as you get accommodation allowance, kids international schooling fees, transport allowance and all other essential benefits.

The Malaysian job market for expats

No doubt the country is growing and there is a stable job market. But, for expats, the road is not that easy but not impossible either. Expats who wish to have a career in Malaysia should find a job prior to leaving their home country as the job market and regulations for international professionals offer only limited job opportunities for expats in the country. In order to keep the employment rate stable in the country, the local labor force is given the first-hand preference in almost all jobs. To protect the local professionals from foreign competition, the government of Malaysia has set certain restrictions for the employment of international professionals. Expats can only be employed for a maximum of 5 or 10 years, depending on the job, and the local professionals are trained to eventually take over the position. There is also a limited number of expats that companies can hire over a period of time. An expat can be hired only when they do not find an equally qualified Malaysian local for the position.
However, the good news is that there are thousands of foreign and international companies from other countries in the world having their offices in Malaysia. So if there is no chance to get employed by local Malaysian companies, there are still good chances to find employment with these MNCs and build a prospective career in Malaysia.
